Dear Friends,

We have purchased our airline tickets to depart for Uganda on May 30th! When we came back to the
States for this furlough, we realized that Sylvia had very serious health issues. After consultations
with several specialists and numerous tests, it was revealed that she had a life-threatening parasitical
infection, hypothyroidism, adrenal failure, osteoporosis, and PTSD. After using various treatments,
the infection is gone, and she lost over 50 pounds. Now her energy and stamina are coming back.

Even as Sylvia was going through this difficult time, she never once wanted to quit or give up on our
calling as missionaries. Her focus was always on getting well and returning to the field with renewed
health and strength. In spite of suffering, she has been a great testimony to her doctors and others.

Through email, social media messaging, and video conferencing, we have coached our church leaders
to take on new responsibilities in our absence. During Uganda’s restrictive COVID-19 lockdowns, we
raised emergency relief funds to help our national pastors, their congregations, and the desparate
people in their communities. Here, we have been active in our sending church, and I have earned my
Master of Arts in Church Ministry degree through Baptist Bible College’s online program.

When we get back, we will be moving to a new locaton on the northeast side of Kampala. In June,
Pastor Ron Williams from Sanford, Florida will come to dedicate two new village church buildings. In
July, professors from Global Baptist Training Foundation will come to hold a weeklong training for 30
church-planting pastors. We will continue to transition our Bible Institute program into a small-scale
Bible college, and are even now drawing up plans for construction of the new facilities.

We are also excited to mentor new missionaries. Miss Jamie Hadden has been staying in our home,
working with the youth, and organizing youth camps. Miss Josephine Pueblo will join us this summer
from the Philippines to work with women and children in Mbarara. The LeTourneau family plan to be
in Uganda by January 2023. We are excited to have these new missionaries joining our team!

Yours for Uganda,
Russ & Sylvia Daniels
